First week in Monticello

Hello Again! Things have changed a lot. I am getting used to it here in Monticello. I still don't know where I am most of the time but I am starting to recognize places we have passed. I know I will be learning a lot this transfer. It's going to be good. Sister Garner is awesome. She is from Elberta, Utah. She has been on her Mission for almost a year. We have had a couple of walk days this week. And let me tell you I would rather have biked! We walked 7 miles one day and 5 miles another. Walking takes so much time! But on the bright side it was easier to stop and talk to people. I met some of the members this week and we had a lesson with Danny. He got baptized just in December and he bought a suit for church. He didn't know how to tie a tie and the sisters have previously tried. I said I could give it a shot and I was able to remember how to tie one! I am grateful I decided I wanted to learn how to tie a tie even if I didn't wear one. We have been running around trying to met with people and I can't remember all those I have met so hopefully next week I will be able to tell y'all some more. I am grateful that I have decided to serve a mission and I am grateful for all the things that I am learning. I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ will help me as I continue to improve. Hello! This week has been pretty good. Saturday was just a really awesome day we had spiritual lessons one after another. It started with Kelvin who in the last lesson we had said he was spiritually hungry and didn't feel like he was getting filled at his church. He was founded during a blitz before I got here but he said that he knew when he say the elders that whatever they were sharing would help him. We taught him the first lesson on Saturday and he knew that everything we where saying was true because he was talking about that earlier with his wife. We invited him to be baptized but he said he wanted to make sure it was the right church and the right things to do. After Kelvin we had a lesson with Ms. Cathy she asked for a priesthood blessing so we had asked someone in the branch to give her one. Afterwards she said that the peaceful feeling she had while reading the Book of Mormon was there. We testified that it was the spirit and told her she could feel the spirit all ...

Hello All! This will be a short one this week. We lost time hiking with the District. We went back to the lady we helped with her yard, we knock on her door and her alarm system started going off. She came out and said she wasn't interested in what we had to say. As we were leaving a cop car pulls up. It was funny. We did have a lesson with Karen and when we walked in and she was watching a talk by President Monson and face to faces. It was crazy to go into and feel the spirit there already. I am pretty excited to work with her more. She is loving learning. She had a stroke a while ago so it is difficult for her to understand everything the first time but please pray for her that has she reads the Book of Mormon she understands. Last Sunday a new bishop was called and this Sunday he jumped up right at then end and invited the ward members to reach out to someone who might feel like the baby toe of the body of Christ. Hello! This week was a good week! We met a lot of cool people and was able to get some service opportunities! We got a Book of Mormon referral this week and we met Samantha. She is really awesome. She read half of the Book of Mormon at her aunt's house and she decided she wanted her own. She is currently looking for a church to go to. She has seen her faith help her throughout her life. We will see her again on Tuesday. We had a busy Saturday. We met an old man named Buddy. We walked up to him when he has blowing off his drive way, he turned of his lead blower and started to give it to Sister Kulikowski. He saw that we were missionaries and told us that his brother is a member. He said that his wife and him were Church of God. He was about to say something else and he said "you know what go knock in the door Jean will talk to you." We talked to Jean for a bit when Buddy came back in and asked if we saw is baby in the garage. He said to follow and he led us to his Ford ...
