Happy Valentine's Day
Hello! This week has been pretty good.
Saturday was just a really awesome day we had spiritual lessons one after another. It started with Kelvin who in the last lesson we had said he was spiritually hungry and didn't feel like he was getting filled at his church. He was founded during a blitz before I got here but he said that he knew when he say the elders that whatever they were sharing would help him. We taught him the first lesson on Saturday and he knew that everything we where saying was true because he was talking about that earlier with his wife. We invited him to be baptized but he said he wanted to make sure it was the right church and the right things to do.
After Kelvin we had a lesson with Ms. Cathy she asked for a priesthood blessing so we had asked someone in the branch to give her one. Afterwards she said that the peaceful feeling she had while reading the Book of Mormon was there. We testified that it was the spirit and told her she could feel the spirit all the time after she was baptized with the proper authority. She asked what authority that was and we mentioned how the member had the authority and could baptize people after that she said " so if he can who will" which was confusing at first but then we realized that she was asking who would baptize her! We set her on date for March 3.
Then we went to Gary. We didn't set up a time to met with him and we were going to see when we could set up a time to come back. He ask how long and we said 15-20 minutes and he said we could do it then. We started to teach him the Restoration but ended up teaching him the Plan of Salvation after asking some questions. It was such a spirit led lesson. It was awesome.
We where in Dumas this Friday and we were trying to figure out who we should see. We had already tried all the people that we had plan to try and see. We then remembered we had a media referral in the area and we already passed his house once. We made our way over there and when we pulled up another car was pulling out. But we quickly got out of the car and the car stopped. It was the referrals wife. She told us how he has crazy work schedule. We gave her the media and asked her if she wanted to learn more. And she did! We were right on time going to her too.
Yesterday a member made us jambalaya. It was so good. Also we stopped by another member and she had just cooked up some Coon (raccoon) and invited us to try some. So we did. It wasn't to bad.
I was reading Alma 29 this week and it really stood out to me about Alma when he says in verse 14 "I do not joy in my own success alone, but my joy is more full because of the success of my brethren" I helped me realize even if I am not seeing immediate success in my own area I can find even more joy in the success the mission is having. I love this Gospel and the joy that it brings me. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ church restored to the earth, and I know that he leads it.
Love ya! Sister Kemp
P.s. I really need to be better at taking pictures.
